Nah mentira, en realidad no hay una fecha en específico para demostrar amor, pero los cariñitos extra en esta fecha no están de más 🥰 Hace algunas semanas, tuve la fortuna de ganar un evento de Elizavecca para reseñar uno de sus productos más recientes: esta crema hidratante. De por sí los productos de Elizavecca llaman mucho la atención por sus empaques bonitos, cuando vi la textura gelatinosa supe que tenía que probarlo porque mi piel ama ese tipo de texturas ya que usualmente son hidratantes que se absorben rápido y eso a mi piel grasa le va de diez. Esta crema la recibí hace 3 semanas y quería compartir con ustedes cómo me ha ido con ella hasta el momento, además de que es una forma de agradecer a la marca que tan amablemente me la envió para que pudiera probarla. Tuve que ausentarme por un largo tiempo ya que mi madre estuvo internada en el hospital, pero gracias a Dios ya se está recuperando y mientras la cuidamos en familia, puedo volver al blog y tratar de ser un poco más constante, especialmente ahora que en México se están viviendo días muy fríos y quería recomendarles algunos productos para sobrepasar este cambio climático tan drástico (y algunos otros productos que no me convencieron 😝). El día de hoy, quiero hablarles de un producto que me estuvo ayudando a proteger mi piel durante bastante tiempo. Y es que aún me sigo dando topes contra la pared por haber subestimado el poder de algunos productos de este tipo, ya que honestamente yo solía pensar "pero bueno, ¿para qué me van a servir? Mi piel no es tan sensible ni reactiva, sólo se echarán a perder rápido porque no los usaré". Pero qué buen periodicazo me han dado y algunos me han dejado callada, como esta emulsión de la que les hablaré. Bueno, ¡basta de cháchara y comencemos con la reseña! ヽ(^◇^*)/

El nombre, la descripción, ingredientes y modo de uso vienen impresos tanto en inglés como en coreano.También tiene impreso el símbolo PAO y el logotipo de la marca viene impreso en relieve tanto en una de las puntas como en la tapa.

La parte interna de la caja es de color amarillo, y se puede apreciar el relieve del logotipo de la marca en este lado también.

Recuerdo haber visto esta emulsión como recomendación en el grupo de K-Beauty en Español de Evelyn junto con la línea Ceramidin de Dr. Jart. Y debido a la diferencia de precio en ese entonces, terminé comprando la de Holika Holika pues quería probar productos con ceramidas. ¿Y cuál es el alboroto por los productos con ceramidas? 🤔 

Pues las ceramidas, junto con los ácidos grasos libres y el colesterol, son sustancias llamadas lípidos que se encuentran en los espacios intercelulares del estrato córneo de la piel (es decir, se encuentran entre la capa más externa). Tienen una gran importancia ya que todos juntos forman la barrera protectora de la piel que la defiende de factores externos como contaminación, cambios ambientales e irritantes, además de que la ayuda a retener humedad y mantener su permeabilidad. Sin embargo, si esta barrera se altera, la piel puede verse comprometida y expuesta a desórdenes como resequedad, comezón e irritación. Estas alteraciones pueden deberse a las condiciones ambientales, daño por radiación solar, agentes químicos irritantes e incluso a jabones demasiado abrasivos, y aquí vuelvo a mencionar la importancia de utilizar un limpiador de pH ácido, ya que el pH alcalino inhibe la enzima que colabora en la síntesis de ceramidas en la piel (es decir, ¡bye ceramidas! 😭). Y debido a su función protectora y humectante, se les han atribuido propiedades "anti-edad" porque mejoran la textura de la piel (mas no son reemplazos de los antioxidantes, y es mejor si pueden usarse en conjunto).

Además de las ceramidas, esta emulsión tiene una lista de ingredientes bastante larga y variada, con emolientes (incluyendo a las ceramidas en esta categoría) y humectantes en mayor proporción. Recordemos que los emolientes son sustancias que brindan suavidad y flexibilidad a la piel, y suelen encontrarse en productos humectantes de textura más espesa. Se recomiendan más para piel seca o con problemas de arrugas para mejorar la producción de sebo y mantener el balance correcto de humedad/grasa en nuestra piel. Mientras que los humectantes son sustancias que atraen agua a la piel y la retienen para de esa manera hidratarla y ralentizar su evaporación. Son un poco más ligeros que los emolientes siendo un tanto pegajosos.

A esta lista se suman los ingredientes idénticos a los de nuestra piel, que son sustancias que podemos encontrar en la piel de modo normal, o bien están diseñados para mimetizar funciones de éstos. 

También encontramos ingredientes con propiedades antiacné e iluminadoras, antioxidantes y calmantes.

I remember I saw this emulsion as a recommendation in the K-Beauty en Español group from Evelyn along with Dr. Jart's Ceramidin line. And because of the price difference at that time, I ended up buying Holika Holika's because I wanted to try products with ceramides. And why the hype around ceramides? 🤔

Well ceramides, along with free fatty acids and cholesterol, are substances called lipids that are found in the intercellular spaces of the stratum corneum of the skin (that is, they are between the outermost layer). They have a great importance since all together they form the protective skin barrier that protects it from external factors such as pollution, environmental changes and irritants, in addition to helping to retain moisture and maintain its permeability. However, if this barrier is altered, the skin may be compromised and exposed to disorders such as dryness, itching and irritation. These alterations can be due to environmental conditions, solar radiation damage, irritating chemical agents and even too abrasive soaps, and here I mention again the importance of using an acidic pH cleanser, since the alkaline pH inhibits the enzyme that collaborates in the synthesis of ceramides in the skin (ie, bye ceramides! 😭). And due to their protective and moisturizing function, they have been attributed "anti-aging" properties because they improve the texture of the skin (but they are not replacements of antioxidants, and it's better if they can be used together).

Besides ceramides, this emulsion has a long and varied list of ingredients, with emollients (including ceramides in this cathegory) and humectants in greater proportion. Remember that emollients are substances that provide softness and flexibility to the skin, and are usually found in moisturizing products with a thicker texture. They are recommended for dry skin or with wrinkle problems to improve sebum production and maintain the correct moisture / sebum balance in our skin. While humectants are substances that attract water to skin and retain it in order to hydrate and slow down its evaporation. They are kinda lighter than emollients being somewhat sticky.

To this list are added skin-identical ingredients, which are substances that can be found in our skin in a normal way, or are designed to mimic their functions.

We also find ingredients with anti-acne and illuminating, antioxidants and soothing properties.

Emolientes / Emollients

Una vez que les he escrito tooodo este largo testamento (¡perdón por eso! 😅) les contaré mi experiencia después de usarla por unos 6 meses, tanto en días cálidos como en estos días recientes tan fríos. La emulsión tiene una textura suave y sedosa (esto debido a las siliconas que contiene), y es de color blanco aperlado. Al esparcir sobre la piel, se siente una ligera cubierta que se expande por completo y que va humectando la piel, dejando un acabado semi-mate pero haciendo que la piel luzca rellenita. La primera vez que la usé, temí por mi piel grasa y caprichosa porque la textura se sentía un tanto espesa y dije "ya valió, voy a parecer papa frita con tanta oleosidad encima". Pero conforme la aplicaba, la emulsión se sentía muy ligera y se absorbía bien en mi piel, sin esa sensación molesta que dejan los productos humectantes que son destinados para piel seca o normal pero que no son bien aceptados por las pieles grasas (ni siquiera en días más calurosos que es cuando la piel suda terriblemente, de hecho creo que me vino mejor que ahora en tiempos de frío XD #fucklogic de nuevo con mi piel). Me sorprendí muchísimo porque pensé que sería demasiado para mi piel, pero en este tiempo que llevo usándola jamás me generó brotes ni una producción de sebo exagerada, y amo el efecto que deja en la piel después de exfoliar y aplicarla porque humecta y la piel luce suave (esto en parte por las siliconas también). Eso sí, hay que aplicar muy poca cantidad porque si se aplican más de 3 "bombeos" en piel grasa se desperdiciará producto y tardará en absorberse. Es gracias a esto que me ha durado muchísimo tiempo, pues han pasado ya 6 meses desde que comencé a utilizarla y aún me sobra suficiente producto en el empaque. 

Pese a que le vino bien a mi piel grasa, decidí probarla en zonas secas de mi piel como brazos y piernas. Se absorbió rápidamente, pero creo que es un buen auxiliar para otros productos humectantes y digo esto porque pienso que en personas con piel seca o normal será mejor utilizarla como un paso extra, ya que es muy ligera en cuanto a humectación y podrían necesitar un tónico, serum o crema más hidratante para aprovecharlo al máximo.

En cuanto a efectos en la barrera protectora de la piel sí noté bastante diferencia, pues cuando tenía algunos problemas causados por probar productos un tanto irritantes notaba que mi piel se recuperaba con mayor rapidez que en otras ocasiones. Y ahora en días con viento frío, me está ayudando mucho a evitar las rojeces que a veces tengo en la piel por el bajón de temperatura. Pienso que hay que darle cierto tiempo para que actúe, pero es efectivo para darle un apoyo extra a la piel en tiempos de estrés o sólo como prevención.

Y para terminar, he mencionado esto por varias ocasiones durante esta reseña, pero hay algunos ingredientes con los que hay que tener cuidado antes de comprar esta emulsión: 

Contiene algunos ingredientes que podrían ser pesados para piel grasa y algunos que pueden aumentar los problemas con el acné fúngico o la dermatitis seborreica. En mi caso nunca tuve problemas usando este producto, pero es mejor verificar si tu piel tiene esta condición y si se puede usar la emulsión. 

De igual forma, contiene aceites esenciales que podrían generar reacciones en personas con piel sensible, por lo que no la consideraría como una opción si estás evitando estos ingredientes o las fragancias demasiado pronunciadas, pues este producto tiene un aroma cítrico un tanto notorio desde que se aplica.

Once I've written to you this loooong testament (sorry about that! 😅) I'll tell you my experience after using it for about 6 months, both on warm days and on these recent cold days. The emulsion has a smooth and silky texture (due to the silicones it contains), and it has a pearly white color. When spreading on the skin, you feel a light covering that expands completely and that's moisturizing skin, leaving a semi-matte finish but making the skin look plump. The first time I used it, I feared for my oily and capricious skin because the texture felt a little thick and I said "Ok that's it, I'm going to look like fried potato with so much oil on top". But as I applied it, the emulsion felt very light and absorbed well into my skin, without that annoying feeling left by the moisturizing products that are intended for dry or normal skin but are not well accepted by oily skin (even in hottest days that is when the skin sweats terribly, in fact I think it came better than now in cold weather XD #fucklogic again with my skin). I was very surprised because I thought it would be too much for my skin, but in this time that I've used it never generated breakouts or an exaggerated sebum production, and I love the effect it leaves on the skin after exfoliating and applying it because it moisturizes and the skin looks soft (this partly by the silicones too). And it's true, you have to apply very little amount because if you apply more than 3 "pumps" in oily skin, product will be wasted and will take time to absorb. It's thanks to this that the product lasted a long time, because it has been 6 months since I started using it and I still have enough product left in the packaging.

Although it came well to my oily skin, I decided to try it on dry areas of my skin like arms and legs. It was absorbed quickly, but I think it is a good helper for other moisturizing products and I say this because I think that in people with dry or normal skin it'll be better to use it as an extra step, since it's very light in terms of moisture and you may need a moisturizing toner, serum or cream.

As for effects on the protective skin barrier, I noticed a lot of difference, because when I had some problems caused by testing products that were somewhat irritating, I noticed that my skin recovered faster than other occasions. And now in days with cold wind, it's helping me a lot to avoid the redness that sometimes I have on my skin due to the temperature drop. I think you have to give it some time to act, but it is effective to give extra support to the skin in times of stress or just as prevention.

And last but not least, I mentioned this several times during this review, but there are some ingredients that you have to be careful with before buying this emulsion:

It contains some ingredients that could be heavy for oily skin and some that can increase problems with fungal acne or seborrheic dermatitis. In my case I never had problems using this product, but it's better to check if your skin has this condition and if you can use the emulsion.

Similarly, it contains essential oils that could generate reactions in people with sensitive skin, so I wouldn't consider it as an option if you are avoiding these ingredients or the too pronounced fragrances, because this product has a citrus aroma somewhat notorious since it applies.

Por ahora creo que no la compraré de nuevo, pero vale la pena darle una oportunidad.

I really liked this product and I think it's a good option to include in the routine without a thick feeling on the skin, but I was eager to try more ceramides products and I'd like to know if there are options in the K-beauty that don't include essential oils. This product was a big surprise because my skin absorbed it well and I saw good results during its use, so one of my goals next year'll be to include more products with ceramides in my routine to keep testing its effectiveness on my skin.
