No cabe duda que durante esta temporada, al menos acá en México el protector solar se ha vuelto una necesidad, y más cuando el Índice de Radiación UltraVioleta ha alcanzado uno de los niveles más altos del mundo (si quieres aprender más sobre la importancia de la Protección Solar, te invito a leer mi entrada sobre este tema). Hoy les traigo una reseña sobre un protector solar de la marca Skin and Lab que promete muchísimas cosas para todo tipo de piel, pero experimentando descubrí cosillas interesantes. Si aún tienes problemas para encontrar un buen protector solar y tienes piel seca, normal o mixta, quizás esta entrada te sea útil.

Hello everyone! Can you believe that we are already in the middle of July? It's an inception style, because we're also mid-year, it's amazing how fast time passes (╯°□°)╯. There is no doubt that during this season, at least here in Mexico sunscreen has become a necessity, especially when the UltraVioleta Radiation Index has reached one of the highest levels in the world (if you want to learn more about the importance of Sun Protection, I invite you to read my entry related to this subject). Today, I bring you a review of a sunscreen from Skin and Lab brand that promises many things for all skin types, but experimenting I discovered interesting things. If you still have problems finding a good sunscreen and you have dry, normal or combinated skin, perhaps this entry'll be useful.

Skin and Lab (con el lema de "Solución de la Ciencia de la Piel") es una marca coreana de cosméticos fundada en 2012 que pertenece a LAB and Company Inc., a la cual también pertenecen marcas de calidad como I'm From y Chica Y Chico. Se funda en base a las investigaciones dermatológicas relacionadas a problemas puntuales de la piel como son el acné, poros grandes, ojeras, rojeces, humectación, iluminación y arrugas, con la finalidad de brindar a sus clientes productos con ingredientes naturales y funcionales para todo tipo de piel, incluyendo piel sensible.

Skin and Lab (with the "Skin Science Solution" slogan) is a korean cosmetic brand founded in 2012 that belongs to LAB and Company Inc., which also includes quality brands such as I'm From and Chica Y Chico. It's based on dermatological research related to specific problems of the skin such as acne, enlarged pores, dark circles, redness, moisture, brightening and wrinkles, in order to provide their customers with natural and functional ingredients on their products, for all skin types including sensitive skin.

"Perfectly filters UVA/UVB with the UV cutting effect of SPF 50+ and PA++++.

Suppresses sebum secretion to keep the skin fresh without oiliness.

Fills the skin with concentrated vitamins that tend the skin healthily."

El protector solar viene dentro de una caja amarilla-anaranjada pequeña (de aproximadamente unos 12 cm), con letras en inglés y en coreano de color blanco. Tiene un lindo efecto con líneas de bordes redondeados, que brillan y se notan cuando se expone la caja a la luz. La información de importancia como la lista de ingredientes viene toda en coreano, pero podemos rescatar algunos fragmentos en inglés como la descripción, rango de SPF y PA, instrucciones, cantidad e información de la compañía.

The sunscreen comes in a small yellow-orange box (approximately 12 cm), with white English and Korean letters. It has a nice effect with lines with rounded edges, which are noticed and shine when the box is exposed to light. Important information such as the list of ingredients comes all in Korean, but we can rescue some fragments in English such as the description, SPF and PA range, directions, quantity and company information.

La parte superior y la pestaña interna de la tapa de la caja tienen impresos el nombre de la marca y la página oficial. En la parte interna, viene impreso un patrón adorable de pequeños soles.

The upper part and the internal tab of the box lid are printed with the name of the brand and the official page. On the inside, an adorable pattern of small suns is printed.

Dentro de la caja, viene el protector solar. Es un poco pequeño, y tiene las mismas líneas brillantes y colores que la caja. La descripción, rango de SPF y PA, instrucciones, cantidad e información de la compañía vienen impresos en inglés. Pese a que tiene una cantidad similar a la de otros protectores solares, me parece que el empaque es un poco más pequeño que los de otras marcas. Tengo también el Perfect UV Protection Cream Triple Care de Innisfree y, aunque tienen la misma cantidad de producto, el empaque del Fre C Sun Lotion es más chico. Viéndolo de modo positivo, por tu tamaño pequeño puedes llevarlo contigo sin que resulte estorboso.

La tapa es de plástico, color transparente, y se debe girar para abrirlo.

En la parte trasera del protector solar, viene impreso en relieve la fecha de expiración.

Inside the box, it comes the sunscreen. It's a little small, and it has the same bright lines and colors as the box. The description, SPF and PA range, instructions, quantity and company information are printed in English. Although it has a similar amount to other sunscreens, I think the packaging is a little smaller than those of other brands. I also have the Perfect UV Protection Cream Triple Care from Innisfree and, although they have the same amount of product, the packaging of the Fre C Sun Lotion is smaller. Looking at it positively, because of its small size you can grab it with you anywhere.

The cap is made of plastic, transparent color, and must be rotated to open it.

On the back of the sunscreen, the expiration date is printed in relief.

Como protección, posee en la punta una tapa metálica adherida con una pestaña para retirarla fácilmente.

As protection, it has a metal lid attached to the tip with a tab for easy removal.

Toma una cantidad apropiada y esparce de modo uniforme en áreas expuestas.Reaplicar cada que sea necesario.

*Se recomienda aplicarlo al menos 30 minutos antes de salir, y reaplicar al menos cada 2-3 horas todos los días.

Take an appropriate amount and spread smoothly on exposed areas. Reapply as needed.

*It's recommended to apply it 30 minutes before you go out, and at least better to reapply with 2-3 hour cycle use everyday.

Últimamente, había tenido problemas para encontrar un protector solar para mi marido. Su piel es mixta y demasiado cambiante, los protectores inorgánicos le resecan horriblemente y los protectores orgánicos le generaban brotes. Así que, por mucho que me agrade compartir rutina con él, necesito invertir en algunos productos que no le generen problemas en su piel. Compré este protector solar basándome en la lista de ingredientes (que no incluía filtros inorgánicos ni alcohol), y crucé los dedos esperando que no le generara brotes y que le humectara bien. Y ha sido una opción bastante interesante...

Este protector solar es blanco con una ligera tonalidad amarilla. En cuanto tomas un poco del producto, puedes percibir un olor cítrico, y a mi parecer también huele un poco al aroma de la papaya recién cortada (no es una fragancia muy fuerte, pero si eres sensible a los olores quizás no te agrade). Tiene textura untuosa y cremosa, y se esparce fácilmente en la piel en cuanto lo aplicas. Inmediatamente después de aplicado, la piel queda con un acabado jugoso y relleno, y pasado algún tiempo toma un acabado ligeramente mate pero muy suave al tacto, y la piel no se siente reseca o tirante. Algo que me gusta mucho de este protector solar es que no deja esa capa blanca odiosa que suelen dejar algunos protectores solares inorgánicos, como la textura es parecida a la de una crema común se absorbe y la piel queda sin residuos blancos.

Lately, I had trouble finding a sunscreen for my husband. He has combinated skin and it's too changeable, the inorganic sunscreens dry it horribly and the organic sunscreens generate it breakouts. So, as much as I like to share my routine with him, I need to invest in some products that don't generate problems in his skin. I bought this sunscreen based on the list of ingredients (which didn't include inorganic filters or alcohol), and I crossed my fingers hoping that it wouldn't generate breakouts and that moisturize his skin well. And it has been a very interesting option ...

This sunscreen is white with a slight yellow hue. As soon as you take a little of the product, you can perceive a citrus scent, and in my opinion it also smells like freshly cut papaya (it isn't a very strong fragrance, but if you are sensitive to scents you may not like it). It has an unctuous and creamy texture, and it spreads easily on the skin as soon as you apply it. Immediately after application, the skin remains juicy and plump, and after some time it takes a slightly matte finish but very soft to the touch, and the skin doesn't feel dry or tight. Something that I like a lot about this sunscreen is that it doesn't leave that obnoxious white layer that some inorganic sunscreens usually leave, as the texture is similar to that of a common cream absorbed and the skin remains without white residue.

Como les había comentado, este protector solar estaba destinado para que mi marido lo usara. Su piel lo amó sin generarle ningún brote, hinchazón o reacción. En su piel deja un acabado mate y suave, y cuando tiene flojera haciendo su rutina facial, lo utiliza como crema en vez de su humectante regular y su piel lo recibe bien sin sobrecargarla. Incluso lo usa en sus brazos cuando se expone demasiado al sol y reaplicándolo varias veces no le genera reacción y resiste bastante bien. Para mí ya eso es una gran ventaja, misión cumplida ♥.

Yo también lo probé en mis brazos y me gustó bastante porque no deja la capa blanca como mi amado protector de Innisfree. Cuando lo apliqué en mis brazos, que siempre están secos y faltos de humectación, se absorbió rápidamente y mi piel se sentía suave, sin rastros blanquecinos. He observado que tiene un rango de protección solar de unas 2 horas en promedio antes de comenzar a ver cambios de color en mi piel; esto ya de por sí es algo genial, y aún si tienes piel seca, normal o mixta y deseas reaplicarlo será beneficioso para tí pues además de la protección que ofrece, te brinda humectación al momento.

Pero el encanto se acabó para mí cuando lo probé en mi rostro. Pese a que la textura no es tan pesada, mi piel grasa simplemente no lo absorbía. Lo dejé por más de 30 minutos y la diferencia fue mínima. En mi piel no deja un acabado mate, sino brilloso y algo pesado, y aunque al principio deja una sensación fresca lo cierto es que conforme pasa el tiempo mi rostro se siente demasiado pesado. Lo peor es que no podía reaplicarlo porque mi piel no lo absorbía y sólo gastaba más y más producto sin obtener buenos resultados. Para poder aprovecharlo lo mejor posible, reduje mi rutina a productos básicos como limpiador, tónico y protector solar y sólo así mi rostro pudo absorberlo un poco más rápido. Sin embargo, mi piel producía demasiado sebo (sí, mi piel es demasiado chafa XD), por lo que me di por vencida tratando de usarlo en mi rostro. 

Pienso que mi piel grasa no aprovechó el protector solar en su totalidad porque es demasiado humectante, y a esto hay que añadir que se formaban rastros del producto en forma de pequeñas bolitas alrededor de mi rostro, las orillas de mi nariz y la frente. Esta sensación también la tuve cuando lo apliqué en el cuello, pues se formaban esas bolitas molestas y sentía que no había una protección solar adecuada, quizás en zonas donde hay demasiada fricción como el cuello o la parte interna de los codos podría no absorberse bien.

As I had told you, this sunscreen was meant for my husband to use it. His skin loved him without generating any breakout, swelling or reaction. On his skin, it leaves a matte and soft finish, and when he is lazy doing his facial routine, he uses it as a cream instead of his regular moisturizer and his skin receives it well without overloading it. He even uses it on his arms when exposed too much to the sun and reapplying it several times it doesn't generate a reaction and resists quite well. For me that's a great advantage, mission complete ♥.

I also tried it on my arms and I liked it a lot because it doesn't leave that white cast like my beloved Innisfree sunscreen. When I applied it to my arms, which are always dry and lacking in moisture, it absorbed quickly and my skin felt soft, with no whitish traces. I've observed that it has a solar protection range of about 2 hours on average before I begin to see color changes in my skin: This is a great thing, specially if you have dry, normal or combinated skin and you want to reapply it, it'll be beneficial for you because in addition to the protection it offers, it gives you instant moisture. 

But the charm was over for me when I tested it on my face. Although the texture is not too much heavy, my oily skin simply didn't absorb it. I left it for more than 30 minutes and the difference was minimal. In my skin doesn't leave a matte finish, but shiny and somewhat heavy instead, and although at first it leaves a fresh sensation, the truth is that as time passes my face feels heavier. The worst thing is that I couldn't reapply it because my skin didn't fully absorb it and I just spent more and more product without obtaining good results. In order to make the most of it, I reduced my routine to basic products such as cleanser, toner and this sunscreen, and only then could my face absorb it a little faster. However, my skin produced too much sebum (yes, my skin is too shabby XD), so I gave up trying to use it on my face.

I think that my oily skin didn't take advantage of the sunscreen totally because it's too moisturizing, and I must add that traces of the product were formed in the form of small balls around my face, the edges of my nose and forehead. I also had this sensation when I applied it on my neck, because those annoying little balls were formed and I felt that there wasn't adequate sun protection, perhaps in areas where there is too much friction like the neck or the elbows inside couldn't be absorbed well.

En conclusión, y tomando como referencia lo que he observado, pienso que es un buen protector solar humectante para personas con piel normal, seca o mixta, que puedan necesitar humectación extra con un acabado bueno sin preocuparse por la famosa capa blanca. No genera brotes ni reacciones alérgicas hasta donde lo he probado conmigo y con mi marido, y tiene gran rango de SPF y PA. 

Pero si tienes piel grasa olvídate de la promesa de acabado fresco, sin sensación pegajosa y control de sebo. Este producto podría hacer que tu piel se sienta pesada y créeme que no es una sensación agradable, y menos en verano que es cuando más se necesita la protección solar constante (┛◉Д◉)┛ (true story acá conmigo).

In conclusion, and taking as reference what I've observed, I think it's a good moisturizing sunscreen for people with normal, dry or combinated skin, who may need extra moisture with a good finish without worrying about the famous white cast. It doesn't generate breakouts or allergic reactions as far as I've tried it in me and my husband, and it has a wide SPF and PA ranges.

But if you have oily skin forget the promise of fresh finish, without stickiness and sebum control. This product could make your skin feel heavy and trust me! It's not a pleasant sensation, especially in summer, when constant sun protection is the most needed (┛◉Д◉)┛ (true story speaking).

Probablemente para mi marido, sí. Y me encanta la sensación suave y la humectación que deja en mis brazos y otras partes de mi cuerpo (excepto mi rostro grasoso, claro está). Pero para uso personal, probablemente no volvería a comprarlo. Me gustaría probar otros protectores solares que fueran un poco más grandes y más ligeros para mi rostro sin perder su capacidad de protección solar.

Probably for my husband, yes. And I love the soft sensation and the moisture that it leaves on my arms and other parts of my body (except my greasy face, of course). But for personal use, I probably wouldn't repurchase it. I'd like to try other sunscreens that were a bit larger and lighter for my face without losing their sun protection ability.
