REVIEW: [JOLSE] Beauty of Joseon Revitalize Sleeping Mask (First Impressions)

¡Hola a todos! ¿Cómo están? ¿Qué les parece el nuevo look del blog? Me estoy esforzando para que cada vez que ustedes lo visiten, su lectura sea más amena ♥ Les agradezco muchísimo el apoyo que le están dando a este, su humilde blog (^_^)♡. Hace unas semanas, Jolse abrió una convocatoria reclutando personas para probar este producto de Beauty Of Joseon, y sin dudarlo participé. Tuve la fortuna de ser seleccionada y el infortunio de esperar bastante tiempo a que llegara a mi país (gracias a aduanas ಥДಥ, los de servicio postal son un amorts to's chulos ♥v♥). Esta vez no haré una reseña completa sino que les contaré mis primeras impresiones* sobre esta Sleeping Mask, ya que al ser un producto anti-edad se necesita bastante tiempo para comenzar a ver resultados (hablando de algunos meses) y también porque quiero entregar la reseña a Jolse en tiempo y forma (˘◡˘).
*Aunque este post será basado en mis primeras impresiones, prometo actualizarlo conforme vaya avanzando el tiempo y en base a los resultados que yo vea.
Recordemos que un Sleeping Pack / Sleeping Mask (o mascarilla nocturna) es un producto hidratante que se utiliza por la noche como último paso de nuestra rutina antes de ir a dormir (de ahí el nombre de "sleeping"). Suelen ser de textura un poco más densa o pesada que las cremas o geles que utilizamos durante el día, y su función es aportar ingredientes destinados a una tarea en específico mientras vamos a dormir (como cuidado de arrugas, control de sebo, iluminar la piel, humectación profunda, entre otras). Aunque no son un componente obligatorio en la rutina de cuidado facial, porque también se pueden utilizar las cremas regulares durante la noche sin problema.
[Antes de comenzar me gustaría agradecer a Jolse por enviarme este producto de manera gratuita para probarlo, así como decirles que todo lo que comparto en esta reseña es totalmente mi opinión honesta y experiencia personal, está basada en los resultados que yo observé y de ninguna forma hubo algún pago de por medio ★~(◡ω⊙✿)].

A few weeks ago, Jolse recruited reviewers to try Beauty Of Joseon product, and without hesitation I participated. I was so lucky to being selected and so unlucky waiting a long time for it to arrive to my country (thanks to customs ಥДಥ, the postal service is a sweetie ♥v♥). This time I won't make a full review but I'll tell you my first impressions* about this Sleeping Mask, since it's an anti-aging product it takes a long time to start seeing results (talking about some months) and also because I want to deliver the review to Jolse in a timely manner (˘◡˘).
*Although this post will be based on my first impressions, I promise to update it as the time progresses and based on the results I'll see.
Let's remember that a Sleeping Pack / Sleeping Mask (or night mask) is a moisturizing product that is used at night as the last step of our routine before going to sleep (hence the name "sleeping"). They tend to have a thicker or heavier texture than the common creams or gels we use during the day, and their function is to provide ingredients for specific tasks while we go to sleep (such as wrinkle care, sebum control, bright skin, deep moisturizing, among others). Although they are not a mandatory component on the facial care routine, because you can also use regular creams at night without problem.

Beauty of Joseon es una marca coreana que utiliza conceptos tradicionales de la Dinastía Joseon (de ahí el nombre de la marca) sobre el uso de hierbas y otros elementos para el cuidado de la piel, reflejando esto desde el empaque de sus productos. Utilizan ingredientes (como el ginseng, las orquídeas y la miel) que vienen listados en el "Kyuhab Chongseo" [o Gyuhapchongseo, como lo presenta Jolse], que era una guía de cuidado de la piel que era usada por mujeres de la Dinastía Joseon). Ellos lo describen en su página de la siguiente manera (disculpen por la mala traducción, corregí y resumí lo que Google Translator me ofreció):
"Hasta ahora, los cosméticos domésticos herbales se han considerado productos exclusivos para mujeres de mediana edad. Beauty of Joseon is a Korean brand that uses traditional concepts of the Joseon Dynasty (hence the name of the brand) about the use of herbs and other elements for skin care, reflecting this from the packaging of their products. They use ingredients (such as ginseng, orchids and honey) that are listed in the "Kyuhab Chongseo" [or Gyuhapchongseo, as presented by Jolse], which was a skin care guide that was used by women of the Joseon Dynasty). Es tan simple pero tan elegante al mismo tiempo, voy a conservar esa envoltura tan delicada para siempre, lo presiento. Honestamente, en dos semanas no puedo contarles mucho sobre los efectos anti-edad o de luminosidad que promete esta sleeping mask, pero puedo contarles mientras tanto otros detalles como la textura, aplicación, ingredientes y posibles pros y contras que yo veo. De antemano disculpen el largo testamento que les dejaré aquí (como usualmente lo hago ◔_◔), pero me gusta explicar cada detalle para que ustedes puedan determinar si les es útil o no.
Últimamente el tema de las arrugas es algo con lo que me he obsesionado demasiado. Desde que comencé a ver las líneas finas más marcadas bajo mis ojos, empecé a introducir productos con ingredientes destinados a mejorar su aspecto. Sé que aún soy joven y que debería ocuparme de otras situaciones en mi piel (en fin, #prioridades), pero me gusta probar productos nuevos que pueden ayudarme a respirar un poco respecto a este tema, sin ser demasiado invasivos. Debo admitir que pensé que este producto me vendría mal por ser destinado al cuidado de arrugas, aún tenía demasiada arraigada esa idea que la mayoría teníamos de que "los productos antiarrugas te van a hacer envejecer más rápido, no los uses a menos que tengas arrugas" (aunque eso de "antiarrugas" no debería existir, ningún producto en este mundo evitará este proceso natural de la vida; como dicen en Instagram, sería más bien "ralentizamiento o cuidado de arrugas"). Pero me dio la impresión de que al ser una sleeping mask no sería tan radical en mi piel y gracias a Jolse es que ahora puedo probarla.
La lista de ingredientes es bastante interesante:
Entre los activos que vienen en mayor cantidad en este sleeping mask se encuentran la glicerina y la niacinamida (estando la glicerina en el 4o. lugar y la niacinamida en el 6o. lugar). La glicerina es una sustancia higroscópica, lo que significa que es capaz de absorber humedad del medio ambiente. Gracias a esta propiedad aporta gran hidratación a la piel, y posee también muchas propiedades importantes que brinda a la piel como la elasticidad, protección a la piel irritada, aceleración del proceso de curación de heridas y fungir como barrera reparadora a la epidermis. Se han visto mejoras inclusive al aplicarlo en condiciones como dermatitis atópica. Mientras que la niacinamida es conocida por mejorar la apariencia de los poros grandes, mejorar el tono de la piel y por mejorar las arrugas, las líneas finas y la superficie de la piel, dándole luminosidad y disminuyendo el daño ambiental. Ambos ingredientes son conocidos por aplicarse en todo tipo de piel sin problema (a excepción de que tengas alergias específicas a estos componentes) y que no generan reacciones violentas en la piel como otros activos.
La descripción menciona que este sleeping mask contiene también soja negra, ginseng y orquídea. La soja negra posee antocianinas, que son sustancias que dan color a las plantas y que fungen como potentes antioxidantes, y polifenoles, sustancias que proveen protección contra la radiación UV, poseen función antiinflamatoria y también antioxidante. También se incluye a la raíz de ginseng, bien conocido por sus efectos antioxidantes y antiinflamatorios, potenciando la producción de colágeno y retrasando la aparición de arrugas y el envejecimiento prematuro, así como protegiendo del daño de los rayos UVB. Y la orquídea, conocida por ser capaz de darle a la piel luminosidad y de emparejar el tono de la piel aumentando su inmunidad, mejorando líneas finas de expresión y suavizando la piel. Pese a todas las propiedades que he mencionado, estos ingredientes se encuentran dentro de los penúltimos/últimos lugares de la lista de ingredientes, al igual que otros ingredientes benéficos como la miel, la adenosina y el extracto de semilla de sésamo. Esto quiere decir que vienen en menor cantidad que el resto de los ingredientes. Sin embargo, quiero pensar que quizás el conjunto de todos ellos, aunque sea en muy pocas cantidades, podrían dar un buen efecto en los resultados que da esta crema pues algunos son realmente potentes (como el ginseng), todo será cuestión de probarla y ver qué pasa en un tiempo.
En cuanto a la sleeping mask hay bastantes cosas qué decir. El aroma es muy muy suave, para mí es parecido al del yogurt frutal porque percibo un olor ligeramente ácido muy similar. Pero no es molesto ni demasiado fuerte, al menos se percibe un poco menos que el de la crema de la misma marca. La textura es bastante particular, supongo que se debe a las siliconas que contiene. Se ve un tanto sólida, pero cuando la manipulas con la espátula o mueves el envase en círculos, puedes ver que cambia similar a la de la miel (es bastante viscosa). Pese a que su textura le da un aspecto pesado, lo cierto es que se esparce fácilmente en la piel. Yo la aplico como último paso de mi rutina facial nocturna, esparciéndola suavemente con las yemas de mis dedos por todo mi rostro.

I know that I am still young and that I should take care of other situations in my skin (anyway, #priorities), but I like to try new products that can give me a break on this subject, without being too invasive. I must admit that I thought that this product would come to me badly because it was made for wrinkle care, I still had too much ingrained that idea that most of us had that "anti wrinkle products are going to make you age faster, do not use them unless you have wrinkles "(Although that "anti-wrinkle" term shouldn't exist, no product in this world will avoid this natural process of life, as they say on Instagram, it should be "slow down or wrinkle care"). But I got the impression that being a sleeping mask wouldn't be so radical on my skin and thanks to Jolse is that now I can test it.
The list of ingredients is quite interesting:
Among the assets that come in greater quantity in this sleeping mask are glycerin and niacinamide (with glycerin in the 4th place and niacinamide in the 6th place). Glycerin has hygroscopic properties, which means that it is able to absorb moisture from the environment. Thanks to this property it provides great hydration to the skin, and also has many important properties that provide the skin such as elasticity, protection to irritated skin, acceleration of the wound healing process and acting as a reparative barrier to the epidermis. Improvements have been seen even when applied in conditions such as atopic dermatitis. While niacinamide is known to improve the appearance of large pores, improve skin tone and improve wrinkles, fine lines and skin surface, giving it brightening and decreasing environmental damage. Both ingredients are known to be applied on all skin types without problem (unless you have specific allergies to these components) and don't generate violent reactions on the skin as other active ingredients.
The description mentions that this sleeping mask also contains black soybean, ginseng and orchid. Black soybean has anthocyanins, which are substances that give color to plants and which act as powerful antioxidants, and polyphenols, substances that provide protection against UV radiation and have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant functions. It also includes ginseng root, well known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, boosting collagen production and delaying the wrinkles appearance and premature aging, as well as protecting against damage from UVB rays. And the orchid, known for being able to give the skin brightening and to match the tone of the skin increasing its immunity, improving fine lines of expression and softening the skin. Despite all the properties I have mentioned, these ingredients are among the penultimate / last places in the list of ingredients, as well as other beneficial ingredients such as honey, adenosine and sesame seed extract. This means that they come in less quantity than the rest of the ingredients. However, I want to believe that perhaps all of them, even in very small quantities, could give a good effect on the results of this cream, since some are really powerful (like ginseng), I'll have to try it and seeing what happens in a while.
As for the sleeping mask there are some things to say. The scent is very very soft, for me it's similar to the fruit yogurt one because I perceive a slightly acid smell, very similar. But it isn't annoying or too strong, at least it's perceived a little less than that of the cream of the same brand. The texture is quite particular, I guess it is due to the silicones it contains. It looks a bit solid, but when you manipulate it with the spatula or move the container in circles, you can see that it changes similar to that honey texture (it's quite viscous). Although its texture gives it a heavy look, the truth is that it spreads easily on the skin. I apply it as the last step of my nocturnal facial routine, spreading it gently with the tips of my fingers all over my face.
Al aplicarla se esparce rápidamente y se absorbe. La piel queda suave y de aspecto sedoso, dejando además un brillo muy lindo en la piel. Este brillo dura cierto tiempo (dependiendo de tu tipo de piel), pero no hace lucir tu piel grasosa ni cargada. Y si tocas tu rostro después podrás sentir una ligera sensación pegajosa que va desapareciendo conforme la crema se va absorbiendo.
El tiempo que tarda en absorberse depende mucho de tu tipo de piel. En mi caso, mi piel grasa tarda bastante en absorberla completamente, y queda con una sensación pegajosa al usarla (no es molesta, pero quizás quieras dormir boca arriba para no manchar la almohada). Probándola en la piel mixta de mi marido, en las zonas secas de su piel se absorbió rápidamente y en las zonas más grasas (prácticamente su zona T) le quedó la misma sensación pegajosa y el brillo que a mí, y en la piel seca de mi madre se absorbe completamente, dejando un acabado mate. Eso sí, en piel seca y mixta hay que tomar una cantidad bastante importante para cubrir tu piel totalmente, porque si tomas muy poca no se esparce adecuadamente y pueden quedar parches secos en tu piel. En piel grasa, con poca porción se cubre bien y se absorbe más rápido.

When it's applied, it spreads quickly and absorbs. The skin looks soft and silky, leaving a very nice shine on the skin. This shine lasts a certain time (depending of your skin type), but it doesn't make your skin look greasy or heavy. And if you touch your face later you can feel a slight sticky sensation that disappears as the cream absorbs.
The time it takes to absorb depends a lot of your skin type. In my case, my oily skin takes a long time to completely absorb it, and it leaves a sticky sensation when I use it (is not annoying, but maybe you'll want to sleep on your back, so you'll keep clean your pillow). Testing it on my husband's combinated skin, his dry zones on his skin absorbed it totally and in his oily zones (practically all his T zone), he get that sticky sensation and shine like me, and in my mother's dry skin absorbed completely, leaving a matte finish. Of course, in dry and combination skin types you must take a significant amount to cover your skin completely, because if you take too little, it won't spread properly and can leave to dry patches on your skin. In oily skin, with little amount you can cover your skin really well, and it absorbs faster.

En cuanto a la hidratación, me parece que es buena para piel grasa, la he estado probando y mi piel amanece con menos sebo, y midiendo constantemente los niveles de humectación y sebo en mi piel, parecen bastante equilibrados. Pero debo decir que si tu piel también es grasa, no recomendaría utilizar muchos productos hidratantes porque esta Sleeping Pack cumple muy bien su función hidratante por sí sola (no queremos ahogar la piel con tanto producto).
Sin embargo, al probarla en la piel mixta de mi marido, a la mañana siguiente había partes donde le aparecieron parches secos y su piel estaba bastante deshidratada. Me di cuenta que cuando él usaba sólo este sleeping mask sin ningún otro producto humectante, su piel resentía la falta de hidratación, por lo que probamos algunos días añadiendo el tónico de Ácido Hialurónico de Isntree y el Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence de Cosrx y sólo así logramos complementarla un poco más sin que volvieran a aparecerle parches secos.

Lo mismo pasó con mi madre cuando probó esta sleeping mask. Su piel es seca, y me comentaba que al aplicarla, aunque percibía que su piel tenía textura suave, sentía que la piel "le tironeaba" y que le faltaba algo de humectación, al final tuvo que complementarla con otros sueros y esencias hidratantes.

As for hydration, I think it's good for oily skin, I've been testing it and I wake up with less sebum, and measuring constantly th moisture and sebum levels in my skin, seem quite balanced.But I must say that if you have oily skin, I wouldn't recommend that you use too many moisturizing products because this Sleeping Pack fulfills its moisturizing function very well (we don't want to drown the skin with too much products).
However, when I tried it on my husband's combinated skin, next morning after used it he got dry in some parts of his face and his skin was quite dehydrated. I realized that when he used only this sleeping mask without any other moisturizing product, his skin felt the lack of hydration, so we tried some days adding the Isntree Hyaluronic Acid toner and the Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence of Cosrx, and only then we could complement it a little more without dry patches appearing again.
Same happened with my mother when she tried this sleeping mask. Her skin is dry, and she told me that when she applied it, although she perceived that her skin had a smooth texture, she felt that her skin "pulled on" and her skin lacked some moisture, at the end she had to complement it with other serums and moisturizing essences.

No vi mucha mejora en mis poros (igual esta sleeping mask no va dedicada a eso), pero vi que las líneas finas bajo mis ojos se veían más hidratadas y rellenitas a la mañana siguiente. Esto fue algo temporal, espero que con el uso constante se puedan ver mejores resultados. / My cheeks absorbed the sleeping mask in some places, and in others the shine was still preserved the next morning. Días antes de probar esta sleeping mask, me salió un pequeño grano con la punta blanca en el costado izquierdo de mi nariz (´ヘ｀). Son de esos brotes pequeños pero algo molestos y dolorosos. Pues bien, pude ver que al aplicarla constantemente durante las noches este granito iba desapareciendo, sin dejar marcas notorias. Sé que este producto tuvo algo que ver, porque durante este tiempo no estuve usando exfoliantes como el BHA. Me sorprende que los resultados se hayan podido ver tan rápido.
Esto también lo pude comprobar con mi madre, que tenía marcas rojas por exprimirse unos puntos negros alrededor de las mejillas (Why mother, why?) ლ(´∀`ლ). Su piel es demasiado blanca, por lo que eran demasiado notorias. Me comentó que se aplicaba mayor cantidad de crema en esas marcas (como si fuera un tratamiento localizado) y que notó que las marcas se iban difuminando y que cerraron rápidamente (no se dejó tomar fotografías porque le dio pena XD pero veré si puedo tomarle algunas en estos días para mostrarles los avances en su piel).

A few days before trying this sleeping mask, I got a small whitehead on the left side of my nose ('ヘ `). It was a small breakout but somewhat annoying and painful. Well, I could see that all the time I applied this mask during the night this whitehead was disappearing, without leaving noticeable marks. I know that this product had something to do, because during this time I didn't use exfoliants like BHA. I'm surprised that the results could been seen so quickly.
I can verify this with my mother too, who had red marks because she was squeezing blackheads around her cheeks (Why mom, why?) ლ(´∀`ლ). She has a really pale skin, so the marks were too obvious. She told me that she applied a good amount of cream over those marks (like a spot treatment) and she noted that the marks were blurred and closed quickly (I didn't take photos of her because she was too shy XD but I'll see if I can take some photos during these days to show you the advances on her skin).

Siento que aún no puedo dar un veredicto por completo, ya que no la he probado lo suficiente y además me encanta probar productos nuevos. Por el momento, me ha sido bastante útil para comparar texturas e hidratación con mis anteriores Sleeping Packs. Pienso seguir usándola y en cuanto vea resultados en unos meses actualizaré esta reseña y entonces podremos hablar de comprarla nuevamente o no.

Sí, no te culpo, yo soy adicta a los empaques adorables y llamativos, es mi maldición XD Las sleeping packs o masks son buenísimas, no son indispensables pero sí que son un producto bastante bueno para darle vitalidad a tu piel mientras duermes, esta me gusta porque acorta mucho mi rutina, aunque aún no puedo decir nada de sus efectos anti-age, poco tiempo la he testeado.
