Bien lo había dicho por Instagram que jamás pensé que encontraría mi primer Santo Grial en un bálsamo para labios: la mejora que les da es increíble. Lo compré en Jolse por una corazonada, y porque llamó mi atención al saber que tiene 2 versiones dedicadas a distintas problemáticas en los labios (Fresh y Rich). La versión "Fresh", como se intuye por el nombre, sirve para darle frescura a los labios ya que contiene mentol. Yo escogí la versión "Rich" porque tengo un problema constante de labios secos, no importa cuánto los exfolie o trate de humectarlos. Esta fue una compra con los dedos cruzados que resultó bastante positiva.

Había probado la versión de Avocado and Olive Lip Balm de Skinfood también (el que tiene la forma tan linda de aguacate) y no me terminaba de convencer. A pesar de que mis labios se veían brillosos, sentía que sólo quedaba una capa grasosa sobre ellos y no quedaban humectados, se sentían secos aún y los pellejos descamados no desaparecían, aunque hiciera exfoliación continua (para las que son de México, la sensación era similar a tener consomé o pancita fríos en los labios ≧◡≦). Además que el hecho de tener que tomar el bálsamo con los labios no me convencía del todo por la sensación grasosa que dejaba en los dedos.

Este Lip Balm resultó muy práctico en todos los sentidos: El empaque es super simple y se puede llevar en la bolsa o en la mochila (¡sólo que tengan cuidado de los cambios de temperatura! Recuerden que también afecta en la calidad y vida útil del producto). Y también es práctico pues se puede usar de día y de noche: yo lo uso de día después de toda mi rutina facial y siento mis labios brillosos, jugosos y muy hidratados (aunque hay que tener cuidado porque en ocasiones puede tardar un poco en absorberse), y también lo utilizo por las noches como mascarilla nocturna.

El aroma es muy suave, es el típico aroma de los bálsamos labiales (como el famoso Labello de color azul, para que se den una idea). En cuanto a su textura, es una barra firme pero al contacto con el calor de los labios se derrite gentilmente, por lo que hay que tener cuidado de no ejercer demasiada presión al aplicar sobre los labios.


I had said it on Instagram that I never thought I would find my first Holy Grail in a lip balm: the improvement it gives them is amazing. I bought it at Jolse for a hunch, and because it caught my attention knowing that it has 2 versions dedicated to different problems on the lips (Fresh and Rich). "Fresh" version, as it is intuited by the name, give freshness to the lips since it contains menthol. I chose the "Rich" version because I have a constant problem with dry lips, no matter how much I exfoliate or try to moisturize them. This was a purchase with crossed fingers that turned out to be quite positive.

I had tried the Avocado and Olive Lip Balm version from Skinfood too (the one with the beautiful avocado form) and it didn't convince me at all. Even though my lips looked shiny, I felt that there was only a greasy layer on them and they weren't moisturized, they still felt dry and the annoying peeling skin didn't disappear, even if I made continuous exfoliation (for those from Mexico, the sensation was similar to having a cold consomé or pancita on the lips ≧ ◡ ≦). Besides, the fact that I had to take the balm with my lips didn't convince me at all because of the greasy sensation that I had on my fingers.

This Lip Balm was very practical in every way: The packaging is super simple and can be carried in the bag or in the backpack (just be careful of temperature changes!) Remember that it also affects the quality and shelf-life of the product). And it's also practical because it can be used day and night: I use it during day after all my facial routine and I feel my lips shiny, juicy and very hydrated (although you have to be careful because sometimes it may take a while to absorb), and I also use it at night as a night mask. The scent is very soft, it's the typical aroma of the lip balms (like the famous blue Labello, just like that). As for its texture, it's a firm bar but once is in contact with the heat of the lips it melts gently, so you have to be careful to not exert too much pressure when applying on the lips.

Algo curioso con este bálsamo labial es que, pese a que el aguacate se menciona en el nombre, se encuentra en los últimos lugares de su reducida lista de ingredientes, lo que quiere decir que se encuentra en menor cantidad en el producto (#muerodeamor, yo lo había comprado porque pensé que estaba en los primeros lugares y no fue así ╥﹏╥). Dentro de los primeros lugares encontramos muchos agentes emolientes, acondicionantes, estabilizadores y controladores de viscosidad; entre ellos, la manteca de semilla de mango, que ayuda a darle forma al bálsamo gracias a su alto contenido en ácido oléico, ácido palmítico, ácido linoleico y ácido esteárico.

A diferencia de la versión tierna del empaque de aguacate, este bálsamo deja los labios humectados sin esa sensación mantecosa en ellos. Es muchísimo más ligero, fácil e higiénico de aplicar (por lo que les había comentado que había que tomarlo con las manos). Ha habido ocasiones donde lo he utilizado sin exfoliar y siento que cubre mis labios perfectamente, humectándolos poco a poco sin dejar esos pedazos secos de labios que son molestos y a veces dolorosos. 

Lo que sí es que si tienes que comer, beber o dar besitos muy seguido, probablemente tengas que aplicarlo muchas veces, pues la capa protectora se pierde o en ocasiones podrías ingerir un poco (aunque ni se nota, o al menos yo no he percibido algún sabor cuando lo he llegado a comer por accidente). Y en algunas ocasiones cuando se absorbe rápidamente, quizás sea necesario volver a aplicarlo, pero no creo que sea problema pues es bastante ligero.

Something curious with this lip balm is that, although the avocado is mentioned in the name, it is in the last places of its short list of ingredients, which means that it's found in less quantity in the product (#dying4love, I already bought it because I thought it was in the first places and it wasn't like that ╥﹏╥). Within the first places we find many emollient agents, conditioners, stabilizers and viscosity controllers: among them, mango seed butter, which helps to shape the lip balm thanks to its high content of oleic acid, palmitic acid, linoleic acid and stearic acid.

Unlike the tender avocado package version, this lip balm leaves the lips moisturized without that buttery sensation in them. It's much lighter, easier and more hygienic to apply (I already told you that the other version should be taken with the hands). There've been occasions where I have used it without exfoliating and I feel that it covers my lips perfectly, moisturizing them step by step without leaving those dry pieces of lips that are annoying and sometimes painful.

A good advice I could give you is that if you have to eat, drink or kiss often, you'll probably have to apply it many times, because the protective layer is lost or sometimes you could ingest a little (although it isn't noticeable, or at least I haven't noticed some flavor when I have eaten it by accident). And sometimes when it's absorbed quickly, it may be necessary to reapply it, but I don't think it's a problem because it's quite light.

Lo he utilizado también antes de ponerme un lápiz labial y me facilita su aplicación, pues muchas veces no puedo usarlos porque mis labios están tan agrietados que el color se introduce hasta el fondo y después es difícil removerlo (sin contar que mis labios muchas veces están secos y algunos lápices labiales me resecaban más ಥ益ಥ). Siento que este bálsamo labial los deja rellenitos, humectados y listos para poner el color. Sin embargo, para las tintas labiales cuesta un poco más aplicarlo, probablemente sea por la textura que deja sobre los labios, pero es un poco difícil aplicar la tinta labial y hay que colocar varias capas para tratar de emparejar el color. En mi caso no hay mucho problema pues no suelo maquillarme tan seguido, pero si tú utilizas maquillaje diariamente es algo que debes tomar en cuenta.

I also used it before putting on a lipstick and it facilitated its application, because many times I can't use them because my lips are so cracked that the color appears all the way down and then it's difficult to remove it (not to mention that my lips are dry many times and some lipsticks dried them more ಥ益ಥ). I feel that this lip balm leave them plump, moisturized and ready to put color on them. However, for lip tints it costs a bit more to apply it, probably because of the texture that it left on the lips, but it's kinda difficult to apply it and you have to do it several times with several layers to try to match the color. In my case, I don't have problems because I don't usually use makeup so often, but if you use makeup daily it's something that you should consider.
