In general, Sioris packaging are minimalist and very representative of their brand. Their boxes are white and contain specific details such as small leaves printed in the box corners and printed information in English and Korean (which includes directions, ingredients, cautions and shelf life).
The container of their products also share some characteristics, since they are usually transparent and tubular, with a whitish lid and a label that mentions less product details than those we can read in the box. In the case of this scrub, it's a small tubular container that, when unscrewed, we can see a fairly wide hole, without a metal seal or some other protection seal, which acts as a dispenser.
At the base of the package, the expiration date printed with black ink can be seen.

I haven't used physical scrubs in my routine for a long time and I really wanted to try a new one, because besides being relatively faster and easier to use, sometimes my skin is too sensitive and I cannot use them as I'd like. In addition to that, here at home my family prefer them more than the exfoliating acids because of how practical they are now that the drastic change of climate has begun (or at least I've noticed that 😂). It was providential then that Jolse chose me to review this product, since I had it on my wish list for a long time because of some interesting details.
Physical scrubs are very good when introducing exfoliation into our routine, although some are usually quite aggressive with the skin (such as those with sugar, which can lead to micro tears due to the size of the sugar grains and the friction due generate when applying the product). However, this scrub includes in its ingredients oat flakes flour, rice powder and rice hull powder, which from what I'd read previously are much less aggressive than those that contain microbeads or granules too large as sugar, coffee or walnut, which although they are pulverized as much as possible, there will always be those sharp edges that can cause some micro skin lesions.
Michelle, from LabMuffin, in several of her texts mentions that physical scrubs that contain oatmeal are the most preferred, because in addition to being gentle in all skin types, they function as occlusives by preventing the moisture looss from the skin, keeping it moisturized. It's also known that oats have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-irritant and soothing properties thanks to the avenanthramides, tocopherols and flavonoids it possesses. In fact, thanks to these properties there are some colloidal oatmeal preparations that are used as an auxiliary treatment of many dermatological conditions such as rosacea, atopic dermatitis, eczema, skin rashes, sunburn injuries and contact dermatitis (although always remember that, if you're suffering from any of these dermatological conditions and you'd like to include some treatment in your routine, it's essential to consult with the dermatologist first to see if you can use it and if it won't aggravate such condition).
In turn, rice powder is used as an abrasive and binder substance, and there are studies where rice grain baths have been prepared to treat skin wounds in patients with atopic dermatitis, as some studies have been conducted that have determined that it is a "non-allergenic" ingredient (although there are a few exceptions and it must be taken into account that there is a possibility that someone has an allergy to rice itself).
Well, after this little information sheet, let's describe the product because it has some particular characteristics. If the package wouldn't has a label that indicates that it's a cosmetic, one might think it's whole wheat flour. Its texture and aroma are quite similar to those of this food product, even the small lumps that form inside are very similar. When you take the scrub with your hands, you can feel a very soft powder with some slightly larger particles.

Directions indicates that scrub should be mixed with the regular aqueous cleanser you're using, and from this mixture emerges a sand-colored paste emerges that should be spread like a mask all over the face (except for the eyes and mouth areas). It's rubbed gently and then rinsed with warm water, and I emphasize the "warm" part because it takes a long time to remove if you're using cold water and is not removed completely. I've been using it every 3 days in the morning, taking advantage that I only used a mild aqueous cleanser as a part of my cleansing routine, and so I've been able to test some of its properties during the rest of the day.
However, the directions also say that the scrub can be mixed with any cleanser, so I tested some of my cleansers to find out if there was any difference when mixing the product with different texture cleansers, since the powder is not so volatile but it takes some time to integrate it with certain textures of some cleansers*.
*I want to clarify that I did this test with the sole purpose of comparing textures between the cleansers that were available in my house, not to do anything against any product of these cosmetic companies or Jolse. Similarly, the results in other cleansers of different textures are likely to be different from those presented here.
Jolse was kind enough to send me a sample of the milky cleanser of the same brand (Sioris), that I could test it individually and it has a slightly acidic pH, it's very soft with the skin and that it's quickly removed when rinsing, without leaving the skin too tight. So I also included this sample in the cleaners to test.
In general, I used 3 cleansers:
🧼 Cleanse Me Softly Milk Cleanser (sample) from Sioris, which has a creamy and slightly light texture.
🧼 Day By Day Cleansing Gel from Sioris, which has a somewhat watery and very light gel-like texture.
🧼 Morning Milk Bubble Foam from Isntree, which has a foamy and soft texture.
In a transparent container, I placed a similar amount of scrub in three different spaces and proceeded to mix them with a certain amount of each cleanser I mentioned before. While the scrub is able to moisten and bond with all the cleansers which I tested it, I noticed some differences between each texture / cleanser:
🧼 Cleanse Me Softly Milk Cleanser (sample) from Sioris was the best of all, because although it took a bit to mix with the scrub, the final result was quite homogeneous and the texture of the scrub was softened almost completely. The final paste can be spread easily on the skin, although it can present problems when rinsing.
🧼 Day By Day Cleansing Gel from Sioris was the one that mixed faster with the scrub, and the texture of the scrub was softened almost completely just like with the creamy cleanser. However, the final texture of the paste was too watery, so be careful when applying to the skin because the product can be spent too much.
🧼 Morning Milk Bubble Foam from Isntree was the one that presented more complications when mixed with the scrub, it was the one that took the longest time to moisten it and it really was not completely mixed. Large lumps formed inside the bubbles of the cleanser, and when applied to the skin generated some discomfort from these moistened particles. Perhaps if it is mixed with a denser foamy cleanser, a more manageable paste can be obtained.
Of course, all cleansers shared something in common: The scrub absorbs too much moisture from the product with which it is mixed, so be sure to use a good amount of cleanser if you want the final pasty texture to be soft and malleable.

I could also detect some differences when exfoliating and the scrub is mixed with the creamy cleanser or with the foamy cleanser. With the creamy cleanser, the paste was thicker but it was easier to spread, being able to still feel the light texture of the cleanser and some small pieces of the scrub that feel smoothly when frictioning. While with the foamy cleanser some larger lumps were formed, which were difficult to spread on the face, and when friction you could feel them faster and more intensely than when using the creamy cleanser. For its part, the exfoliating paste that was obtained with the gel cleanser was quite similar to what I saw with the creamy cleanser: easy to spread and gentle with skin.

And what has been said above, you must use an adequate amount of both the scrub and any cleanser that is used, because if you add a bigger amount of cleanser than the scrub one, the result will probably be a rather watery sand paste. And if the scrub amount is bigger than the cleanser, the sand-colored paste will be more dense and difficult to apply on the skin (I've tested it several times and it is quite thick, and it takes more time and effort to spread it), in addition to that after rinsing it leaves a tight feeling on the skin. Oh by the way! You have to be very careful with the scrubber dispenser, because it is something (if not too much) large and it's difficult to measure the amount of product you want to come out, so sometimes you get a lot and that is when the texture can be very dense and hard to use.

As for the results that I've observed during this month and a half that I've used it, there are some interesting things to say. This product promises:
- Reduce skin irritation,
- Remove sebum and dirt,
- Improve the appearance of large pores of oily skin,
- Provide moisture to the skin, even after rinsing,
- Give a smooth and uniform appearance to all skin types in general.
A few days before trying this product, I had to suspend the exfoliating acids that I normally use. The main reason was because my skin was too sensitive for some hormonal changes that I suffered, so my skin was reactive to any chemical exfoliant that I used and with just one touch, it became red and swollen. But when I stopped the chemical exfoliants use, I felt that my skin accumulated sebum, breakouts and blackheads more quickly. So, I decided to use this product as the only exfoliant in my routine to verify how effective it was and if it fulfilled everything it promised in its ads (by the way, people who have seborrheic dermatitis can use it, cheers for that! 🎉).
During this time I've used it, I can tell you that it does help improve the skin texture. Once you rinse the exfoliating paste, the skin feels very soft and smooth for quite some time throughout the day (because its effects are temporary). I feel that it helps soothe irritated skin a little and that it decongests pores, I've even noticed that it decreases the redness of my cheeks in the morning, which is when I use it. Although it is necessary to take into account that the effect of the physical scrubs will always be in the most superficial layer of the skin, so it doesn't have a great effect on breakouts, whiteheads or blackheads and that it won't do a very deep pore cleansing.
Thanks to this effect that it has on the skin texture, you can obtain better results when applying makeup such as primer, BB cream or cushions, since the skin looks smoother and the base is applied without those flaking zones or irregularities that many times we develop due to lack of exfoliation. I've also noticed that the skin looks brighter after using the scrub.

As for the part where "it brings moisturization to skin", I have some divided thoughts. It can leave a "tight" feeling when rinsing, but it is not as potent as some cleansers leave on their own and without adding anything else. However, when making some measurements on my face, I realized that some areas with dry patches were sufficiently hydrated to allow short time to apply the following products of my routine. I think these results were obtained due to the oatmeal and rice that this scrub contains, although it is not enough for dry or dehydrated skin that requires extra moisture on their skin, therefore it's advisable to continue with the skin care routine once you rinses this scrub. I also believe that it'll depend a lot on how dehydrated your skin is and the type of cleanser you use, because as I mentioned, you should try to use balanced amounts of both products so as not to generate an exfoliating paste that is too hard and dryes your skin.
I also noticed that after exfoliating my skin with this product, the amount of sebum was regulated quite well. Obviously it kept producing it throughout the day, but in the night cleansing I noticed that the face didn't brighter and with that heavy feeling that excessive sebum on the cheeks and the T area leaves and that is usually very annoying. Of course, you must moisturize all skin types that use this product because otherwise, sebum'll continue to be produced even if you are constantly using the scrub.

I've also tested it with some members of my family and they have done quite well now that it has been cold weather, because they've been using the combination with the gel cleanser and they use the light paste and rinse it quickly. So far none of them have had any allergic reactions and my mother ended up loving him, and my husband has been using it after shaving his beard because he says that it reduces the itching that his razor leaves often and because it leaves the skin softer after rinsing.
And to finish this review, I consider it a good product for people who will begin to include exfoliants in their routine, for those who cannot use chemical exfoliants due to sensitivity/allergies or for people who want to try gentle alternatives in physical exfoliation. Although remember that this type of scrub will always work on the most superficial layer of the skin, so if you need a deeper cleansing consult a specialist to see what type of product can be administered on your skin.

¿ LO COMPRARÍAS DE NUEVO? / WOULD YOU BUY IT AGAIN?

I'd like to have a reserve version because it really is a gentle scrub with the skin, and it hasn't created troubles when my skin was very sensitive and reactive (and also regarding my seborrheic dermatitis). However, the dispenser is somewhat annoying and I'd love to have it done a little smaller in order to have better control of the product you want to obtain. Also, it'd be good to buy it again when the brand is on sale in Jolse, because I think it's a bit expensive especially because the packaging is somewhat small.
